Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer who hails from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. In October of 2016, Ari Lennox released her Pho EP. This was the moment that she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio album came out on May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012 following the release of her debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. Ari Lennox continued to upload her songs online throughout 2014, which included the self-released single Bound. The song Sweat it featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21 2015. J. Cole was interested by her talent and was looking to use it together with Rihanna. The announcement of her decision to be signed to Dreamville Records was made on the 8th day of December. Backseat, a track she performed together with Cozz for the Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. She released Pho, her debut EP, on Oct 21 in 2016. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change as well as performing as part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as opening act. In 2018, she appeared as a guest on two songs with the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th July, 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video for it came out on the 5th. The second single she released was Grampa on November 9. Then, in November 2013, she released her debut album No One, and Pedigree. They then teamed up on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on the track Shea Butter Baby on November 16 and released as a single in February, 2019, for her debut album the same name. A music video was released 20 February 2019 in order to accompany the track. Within a period of a week, the video had more than 3 million views. She was the supporting act for 6LACK during the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December 2018.
